S&J School of Hair was founded from the legacy of S&J Hair and Nail Salon, a staple in the Hampton and Newport News community. What began as a passion for beauty and service evolved into a mission to educate and empower the next generation of cosmetologists.

With a foundation rooted in real salon experience, we created this school to provide hands-on training, expert guidance, and a supportive space for future professionals to grow and thrive.

About the Owners

Sherita & Edward Jenkins

Sherita and Edward Jenkins are the visionary owners behind S&J School of Beauty. What began as Xotic Nail Salon in 1998 evolved into the flagship S&J Hair and Nail Salon in 2014, and has since expanded into five thriving salon locations across Newport News, Hampton, and Franklin, Virginia.

Together, they’ve built a beauty empire rooted in excellence, education, and entrepreneurship. Their first training program, Nail Technology, launched in 2001 and proudly holds a 100% state board pass rate. Since then, S&J has added Cosmetology, Barbering, Waxing, and Microshading Certification programs — all designed to equip students with real-world skills and licensing readiness.

With a network of over 50 independent professionals working under the S&J brand, Sherita and Edward remain committed to creating opportunities, growing leaders, and shaping the future of beauty—one graduate at a time

Victoria Brown

Her experience in business operations and education support ensures that the day-to-day management of S&J School Hair runs smoothly. From coordinating enrollment to assisting students with administrative needs, Victoria plays a vital role in keeping our school organized and student focused.
