Alexis Taylor is the lead cosmetology instructor at S&J School of Hair. With nearly two decades of hands-on experience in the beauty industry, Alexis brings passion, professionalism, and real-world expertise to every class she teaches.

Licensed since the early 2000s, Alexis has built a respected career as a hairstylist. Her love for the beauty industry goes beyond styling — she is committed to nurturing future professionals who are not only skilled with their hands but also confident, ethical, and business-minded.

Known for her structured teaching style and encouraging approach, Alexis takes pride in making sure every student understands the “why” behind the techniques, not just the “how.” She’s passionate about helping students find their path, whether it’s working in a high-end salon, opening their own business, or specializing in areas like natural hair, color, or education.

1. How long is the cosmetology program?

Our cosmetology program is 1,000 hours, typically completed in 9 to 12 months, depending on your schedule.

2. What is the age requirement to enroll?

Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed the 10th grade or equivalent.

3. Do I need experience to enroll?

No prior experience is required. Our program is designed to take you from beginner to licensed professional.

4. What does the program cover?

You will learn:

Hair cutting, coloring, and styling
Chemical treatments
Skincare and nail care basics
Sanitation and safety
Business and client-building strategies

5. Is financial aid available?

We are working toward offering financial aid. In the meantime, affordable payment plans are available.

6. What happens after graduation?

You’ll be eligible to take the Virginia State Board Exam to become a licensed cosmetologist. We also provide career support and entrepreneurial guidance.

7. How do I apply?

8. Is there a dress code?

Yes. All students are required to wear professional black attire with closed-toe shoes.
